Zoey had a long recovery from surgery to straighten the femur bones in both legs. By July of 2017 she was given the okay to start walking. She had to build up strength and endurance. She was very excited to be up on her feet. She practiced in the house as any toddler would between furniture. In September at John McGivney Children’s Centre, Zoey’s physiotherapist connected her to a body harness that was connected to tracks in the ceiling.

This allowed Zoey to walk across the room to show her this option in a safe way. Zoey was thrilled to realize this new option! Her walking progressed well and her strength and endurance built through the year. The focus was level surfaces only.
Zoey was also able to ride her adapted tricycle this year around school and home. She enjoyed this new found freedom!
