Hospital Visit

Zoey was scheduled for her second infusion of aclasta to help strengthen her bones. Unfortunately they were not able to get an IV into her veins. Five attempts was enough. There is so much scarring in the veins of her hands, arms and feet that all blood work is very difficult and is now too traumatic. The new plan is to get a permanent port inserted. This is like an IV but will be in her chest and the end of the tube will be tucked under her skin. This will allow all blood tests and IV's to go smoothly with just the one pick through the skin. Once she adapts to this it will no longer be a traumatic event going to the hospital and she can enjoy her visits. Doctors are expecting the port and second infusion to be completed by the end of this year.
