Second Opinion

We travelled in February with Zoey to Shriners Hospital in Montreal where one of their specialties is brittle bones. Their opinion is the bowing in her thighs and tibias is too severe and she will break again. The damage in her legs at this point can be fixed with surgery in the future when her bones are no longer brittle. If there are too many breaks causing too much damage to the bones the doctors may not be able to correct the bowing with surgery. It was determined that Zoey should no longer stand or walk. The standing frame where her legs are supported in 2 or 3 places is the only safe way to stand which helps build density in the bones. This is not a happy day for Zoey who has been very proudly working on walking. A new treatment was recommended.
As usual Zoey surprised us by adapting better than we expected to the limitations on movement.
